As an ethically-integrated business, we at Yoga Tree are proud to team up with local organizations and non-profits in our community. The following is a collection of just a few of the fantastic groups that we have had the pleasure of working with and raising money for. We are also happy to donate gift certifications for class passes to worthy local fund-raising opportunities.

Green Yoga Association (www.greenyoga.org)

All of our Yoga Tree locations are proud members of this Oakland-based non-profit, whose mission is to foster ecological consciousness, reverence, and action in the yoga community.

Power to the Peaceful (www.powertothepeaceful.org)

The Festival began humbly in 1998 as an international day of art and culture in support of political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal; drawing roughly 6,000 people to the Mission's Dolores Park. In 2000, PTTP expanded; showing support for all prisoners on death row, and speaking out against the exponential growth of the prison industrial complex.

When the attacks of September 11th, 2001 occurred, the festival took on a new significance, serving both as a day of remembrance for the lives lost in the tragedy as well as a day in which Northern Californians called for and end to all bombing around the globe.

Since then, the Power to the Peaceful Festival has relocated to Golden Gate Park, also features morning yoga, an open-air art gallery, a healing arts tent, a DJ tent, vendors and food booths, eco village, kid's zone, bicycle coalition, and social, environmental & political organizations tabling & forums.

Yoga Tree is a proud sponsor of this event, as well as an active fund-raiser, holding yoga-related workshops and events with musician and filmmaker Michael Franti and some of our top instructors.

Niroga (www.niroga.org)

This non-profit organization that seeks to foster health and well being through the practice of Yoga for at-risk and underserved individuals, families, and communities by outreach, education, and research. Among other activities, Yoga Tree has raised money and collected extra yoga mats for this fine organization.

America’s Ocean Challenge (www.thebaumfoundation.org/aoc.html)

The degradation of our marine habitats is far worse than most Americans are aware. The America’s Ocean Challenge (AOC) objective is to measurably increase the American public’s understanding of the value of America’s marine ecosystems (the 200-nautical mile Exclusive Economic Zone), learning to increased knowledge, awareness, and action for change.
