  • 6thStudioSide_webYoga Tree has opened a new studio on 182 6th Avenue at California. The studio caters to local yogis and serves as a real community center. We offer over 25 classes per week of Vinyasa, Hatha, Pre and Postnatal yoga, restorative and Kundalini Yoga.

    The space was formerly home to Brighton Beach Antiques but has been vacant for many years – Yoga Tree has kept the iconic sign which can still be seen coming from the north end of 6th Street. The interior has been beautifully remodeled featuring a reception area with a wide variety of yoga retail including clothing, mats, books, etc..  The yoga studio boasts beautiful cork floors and accommodates 30 people.

    Yoga Tree offers a variety of rates and packages, ranging from an introductory offer of $20 for 3 classes, 10 and 20 class packs, up to a monthly pass (31 classes max) for $190. Classes can be taken at any of our 9 locations in the Bay Area.

      Brenna began her journey with Yoga, Meditation, Tantra, and Ayurveda in 1998. Originally from New York, then Chicago and now San Francisco, Brenna Geehan, ERYT 500, is a Level II Certified ParaYoga® Instructor. Brenna co-directs Sri Yoga Teacher Trainings and travels nationally offering Yoga seminars. Brenna has over 1,000 hrs of training and over 12 years of full time teaching. She specializes in prescribing yoga practices with meditation that addresses her students needs.

      Over the past 14 years, Brenna has had the great fortune of learning from other master teachers including Pandit Rajmani Tigunait , Scott Blossom, Yogiraj Alan Finger, David Life, Shiva Rea, Doug Keller, Beryl Bender Birch, Tias Little, Ana Forrest, Tim Miller, Gary Kraftsow, Andrey Lappa, Gabriel Halpern, and Judith Lasater.

      Brenna believes that we all have the right and capacity to realize a life brimming with joy, meaning and purpose. In her classes, she offers a Tantric- Vinyasa practice that encourages an “inner listening”. Her mission is to help transform students’ bodies to be stronger and more flexible and also aid in removing mental and emotional obstructions so they may have a more balanced and healthy energy flow. Her classes include pranayama and meditation practices that encourage students to find clarity of mind and peaceful dispositions. Brenna teaches public classes in San Francisco and is a respected mentor to other teachers.

      Darcy Lyon (MA, MFTi, RYT) is a Certified Anusara teacher and Expressive Arts therapist. After many years studying dance and theater, Darcy fell in love with the grace and intelligence of Anusara Yoga in 1998. Reflecting an exuberant playfulness and passionate love for movement, her classes are based in Anusara’s Principles of Alignment which support body, mind and heart to live with deep strength, wisdom and ease. Students can expect a non-competitive environment where we all support each other towards our personal best. In 1996 Darcy formed her company: Heartfire Arts for her work with healing, hope and transformation. She has been hired by the Federal Emergency Management Association to create a puppet show for traumatized children, developed a yoga program for an eating disorder clinic and developed a six month intensive that blends yoga and psychology. Her teaching equally reflects a depth of understanding in psychological change and bridging of eastern and western wisdom traditions. Darcy teaches public classes, leads retreats nationally and internationally, mentors new teachers and runs workshops for teachers and students.

      Diana Oppenheim is an in-it-for-life yogi. The practice of yoga is her grounding force in an ever-changing world. She believes in its power to heal, expand and bring balance to life as she has experienced it first hand. In her class you will find a strong, methodical and balanced sequence that meets each student where they are at.

      Her main source of inspiration comes from Annie Carpenter, Margo Kellison-Lightburn and Sara Strother.

      Diana teaches yoga but will always consider herself a student of life first. She has a master’s degree in Urban Planning and Community Development and for all the plans she’s created, she loves the spontaneous plot twists of life.

      Heather Baker’s Yin Class is deeply nourishing, with an emphasis on surrender, curiosity and kindness. Her intention is to create a supportive place to find balance. A place to pause, to tune in and invite harmony into our over scheduled lives.

      She is a Dating and Relationship coach who discovered yoga when she returned to the United States after 17 years abroad in Europe. Heather is a devout student of yoga since 2000 and brings a joyful exuberance to her classes.

      Heather has immersed herself in the study of Yin and InnerYoga under the careful tutelage of her mentor Dina Amsterdam. She is registered with the Yoga Alliance and received her certification at Yoga Tree.

      Kari Marble has practiced yoga since 1989 and taught since 2000, and cannot imagine pregnancy, parenthood or life without it! She is a certified yoga teacher, teacher trainer, massage therapist, infant massage instructor, and birth educator with a passionate and extensive specialization in the childbearing year.

      Kari loves teaching gentle, therapeutic and restorative yoga and is a devoted student of the yoga sutras and bhakti yoga. Kari integrates meditation, mantra and yoga philosophy into each class to invigorate the body while deepening inner awareness, connection to Self, trust in the body’s wisdom, and appreciation of the sacred.       Korie’s simple but strong sequencing, along with rhythmic musical beats, will awaken your inner power and grace. You will explore cultivating a strong and stable foundation to then connect to the freedom of flow and movement, deepening this beautiful relationship between power and grace. You will have the opportunity to explore physical alignment, as well energetic alignment, both being a devise to go deeper into your practice. Korie’s hope for her students is that they become more connected to their physical body, their emotional body and their energetic body so that are able to source from these aspects of themselves for a more empowered, conscious and integrated experience on the mat and in their lives. Korie has done her 200hr and 500hr training at Yoga Tree.       Laura’s creative and intelligently sequenced flow classes are known for being challenging, with a smooth and rhythmic flow. She incorporates strategically selected music organized to create a specific cadence and theme for each class. Laura is conscientious about catering to different levels and ability to ensure that all feel welcome and comfortable. Laura’s extensive studies, primarily under Shiva Rea and primary mentor Jason Crandell, have helped forge an intuitive, spontaneous and eclectic instruction style. Laura worked as the Yoga Director at the San Francisco Bay Club’s Mind/Body Center, has appeared in numerous online videos by Yoga Journal and Yogaglo, and was the June 2010 master class model for Yoga Journal Magazine. In addition to teaching yoga classes, Laura is the founder of Yoga Reach International, a company that specializes in yoga travel-adventures with a philanthropic intent: to help the communities that it touches through both hand-on projects or donations.       Linda Souders classes emphasize breath and alignment in flowing motion to build balance, flexibility and strength.

      Her commitment to honesty, collaboration and love enable students of all levels to find what works best for their unique body in any given moment. Linda guides students on a powerful exploration of listening to the body with open-minded curiosity.

      Her teaching draws from several sources – primarily Vinyasa, which she has practiced with her teachers Stephanie Snyder, Pete Guinosso and Amanda Moran as well as the Yin Yoga brilliance of Sarah Powers and Paul Grilley.

      Miki is thrilled to share her love and knowledge of yoga as a healing and strengthening practice. She believes in respecting and learning from the tools of our yoga roots, while developing deep awareness of our unique bodies and minds so that we can practice with authenticity in the ever-changing moment.

      Miki received her initial RYT 200 with Clayton Horton at the Yoga Society of San Francisco Brahmananda Ashram, venturing next to Costa Rica receiving her RYT 500 at the Nosara Yoga Institute, and also completing Yin Yoga teacher trainings with Paul and Suzee Grilley. She has taught classes and assisted teacher trainings in San Francisco, Costa Rica, and Hawaii.

      Miki remains a humble student of yoga first, and guides her classes with mindful compassion, encouraging students to attune to their own inner wisdom while moving and breathing with intention and grace. She feels honored to hold space for collective consciousness so that we can all connect and unpeel through the layers of our multi-dimensional Self.

      Samuel Palmer teaches the nuts-and-bolts of alignment as well as energetic, dynamic, and challenging sequences, always with an eye for safety, and always holding loving space for students to have their own experience.

      Samuel came to the practice of Yoga in 1997, with a strong foundation in Anusara. After years of studying loops and spirals in detail, he moved to San Francisco and discovered its Vinyasa culture, fell in love with its rigor, and met his most influential teacher Jamie Lindsay with whom he studied for 7 years; Jaime’s teaching drew upon elements of Iyengar, Ashtanga, Kundalini, and Andrey Lappa’s Universal Principles of Alignment.

      Sonya Genel, ERYT, joyfully embraces the power of yoga not only to heal and transform the body but also to heighten human consciousness and to create a radiant life. In her classes she weaves precise anatomical alignment with flowing movement, always approaching her students with authenticity and humor.

      Sonya first started practicing yoga in 1999. It was the powerful benefits of her own practice that compelled Sonya to share the transformative gift of yoga with others. She attended her first teacher training at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health and over the years she completed hundreds more hours of training in Tantra and alignment based yoga, prenatal yoga, anatomy, therapeutics, and meditation. Her most influential teachers have been Sianna Sherman, Paul Muller-Ortega, Jill Miller, and KK Ledford.
