The Yoga Tree Basic Teacher Training program is a 200-hour Level One certification program carefully designed for serious students of yoga who want to deepen their practice as well as for those students who wish to become teachers themselves. Because diversity is at the heart of Yoga Tree’s approach to yoga our trainings are taught by a variety of Yoga Tree’s senior teachers. Topics include proper alignment, assisting, sequencing, philosophy, anatomy, prenatal yoga and restorative yoga. Our trainings include one month intensives and 6 month long weekend schedules to meet everyone’s needs.
The Yoga Alliance
Because Yoga Tree is a member of the Yoga Alliance, your certificate will be recognized all over the world. Once you graduate from our program you will be eligible to join the Yoga Alliance at the 200-RYT level. Becoming a member of the Yoga Alliance is a great way to let gyms and yoga studios at which you wish to teach that you are a professional, highly educated and skilled teacher.
Yoga Tree Advantage – Free Yoga
To help you deepen your practice Yoga Tree offers unlimited free yoga classes in select classes during your 200 Hour Yoga Tree Teacher Training. This provides a great way to deepen your own practice while at the same time refining the skills you are learning in your training.
One of the many benefits of the Yoga Tree Teacher Training Basic Certification program is our world-renowned teaching staff. Because Yoga Tree has some of the most well-known teachers in the world, your training will be with leading voices in the field. Some of the Senior Yoga Tree teachers teaching in our program include Darren Main, Elise Lorimer, Darcy Lyon, Stacey Rosenberg, Jane Austin, Dina Amsterdam, Chrisandra Fox, Lauren Slater, Pete Guinosso, Jill Abelson, Mark Morford and many more.
No formal experience is required to enroll in the Yoga Tree Teacher Training program. However, we do recommend that you have had at least one year of regular practice prior to the start of the course. Participating in this training will be a profound experience, taking you to places in your body and mind that you never thought possible.
A flexible body free of injuries is NOT a requirement for this training. In fact, WE ENCOURAGE people with all body types and those with physical challenges to consider this program. At its heart, yoga is a practice of meeting the body where it is, and then working with the body to slowly and respectfully move deeper. The struggles and challenges you will face through the course of this training will only make you a better teacher. If you are waiting for the day when you can finally get your foot behind your head, to become a teacher or commit to take your practice to the next level, you may be denying yourself the opportunity of a lifetime.
In order to graduate from this program you will need near perfect attendance—missing no more than 24-hours and making up any missed classes with teacher-approved assignments. You will also need to practice minimum of 50-hours, complete all assignments and have a current CPR/First Aid certification on the day of graduation.
