How many years should I practice yoga before entering a teacher training?

We recommend a regular and consistent yoga practice to anyone interested in pursuing teacher training--a year minimum would be ideal. Most trainings require a serious time commitment and a certain level of energy in physical practice. We feel that having a regular practice will prepare you for this decision and to take this next step on your yoga journey.

What is Continuing Education?

Our continuing education program features master teachers from many disciplines and allows you to experience depth of yoga. These workshops provide teachers and more advanced practitioners opportunities to study with experts in various aspects of yoga to broaden their knowledge. While these programs are not a part of a comprehensive teacher training program, they allow you to deepen your experience in the areas on which you want to focus. Yoga Alliance requires 30 hours of continuing education per year for Registered Yoga Teachers.

Do I get free yoga classes with my teacher training?

In most cases, yes! Yoga Tree's Level One 200 Hour Certification Program includes unlimited yoga classes for the duration of the training with many of our teachers. You may take all other Yoga Tree classes for an $8 drop-in price. Many of our other trainings offer similar free yoga with the main instructor(s) for that particular training. All free classes are space-permitting. See individual training pages for more details.

Is there a limit to the number of students accepted to your teacher trainings?

Most trainings are limited to 40 students, however certain trainings will allow for larger class sizes. Class sizes are limited to allow individual attention and group dynamic. Due to the limited class size, most trainings will sell out. We encourage you to sign up by the early registration date to secure your spot in the training.

I already have a previous commitment that conflicts with a training date. Can I still take the training?

You stand to get the most out of your experience by completing all the training sessions. There is a specific attendance policy for most of our 200 hour trainings, which is specified on the application/information page. We understand that each individual's circumstances may involve scheduling conflicts. Please alert the program director for your training as soon as you become aware of your conflict and we will find a way to make sure your required hours are met.
