Last Monday, Yoga Tree opened a new yoga studio in Potrero Hill. I was so excited, I had to go check it out – even though Potrero Hill is on the other side of San Francisco from where I live!
The first thing I noticed is how much space the new studio has: there is a nice open lobby area between a large studio and a small studio. When I arrived, Janet Stone‘s immersion into the heart of living the niyamas was meeting in the large studio. The large studio has great natural light from large windows, the light reflected in the frosted glass mirrors. This room will be used both for trainings and for regular classes.
Across the hall is the small studio, which is devoted to regular classes as well as therapeutics and other specialized classes like Yoga for Cancer Patients, Wall Ropes and Treveni – which is a meditation and yoga philosophy class. I love small studios like this. For the same price as a regular yoga class, it’s like being in a workshop because you get so much attention from the teacher.
I took a Kundalini Flow class in the small studio, which is the first time Kundalini has been offered at Yoga Tree. I’ve been wanting to try Kundalini for a while now, and was excited to see this offering. It was definitely different and I’ll share more about that experience in another post 🙂 For now, if you’ve been interested in Kundalini you should definitely go to the class. I really enjoyed it and it was a nice complement to my regular Vinyasa practice.
Yoga Tree shares the new studio space with Harvey Deutch from Red Hawk. Harvey is an exceptional Physical Therapist and yoga teacher. He teaches the anatomy module of Yoga Tree’s teacher training and has an excellent way of explaining how the body works and how to integrate that knowledge into a safe and sustainable yoga practice. He also fixed my knee and got me running again, for which I will be eternally grateful! Harvey will be teaching 6 classes at the new studio – you can see the wall ropes in the small studio.
Some of the teachers that are teaching at the new studio areKerri Kelly, Lauren Slater, Charu Rachlis, Stacey Rosenberg and Betty Roi, to name a few. For more information about the yoga studio in Potrero Hill, including location, class offerings, and workshops, click here.
Yoga Tree’s opening party will be Friday, October 4th. It kicks off with a free class at 6:00, followed by a party including drinks, hors d’oeuvres and DJ music.
