Pete & Stephanie Guinosso lead Thanksgiving Day Yoga, a vinaysa flow yoga workshop to benefit Alameda County Community Food Bank, November 28 @ Yoga Tree Telegraph in the Berkeley East Bay area.

"At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.”
—Albert Schweitzer

Practicing gratitude will guide you in exploring the powerful practice of mindful appreciation, and how such a practice can open you to a life of grace. In this workshop, we will use yoga as a mechanism to explore the transformative emotion of gratitude while utilizing deep hip releases to detoxify the mind-body of negative emotions. We will explore heart opening backbends to feel where joy and gratitude reside in our bodies. Recognizing all the gifts we have and being open to sharing those gifts with the people around us; our friends, family neighbors, the stranger on the street, is one of the obligations of our spiritual path.

At the end of this workshop, you will have a platform from which to explore this sense of gratitude in your daily life, helping you to connect into the abundance that is available to you in your relationships, and in the world.

Please bring:
o Yoga mat
o Hand towel
o Paper/journal and pencil

All levels are welcome; however, having sun salutation experience will be helpful (10 + classes). 1.5 hour asana practice + - 0.5 hours of journaling = 2 hours total.

Known for his joyful energy, skilled touch and sense of humor, Pete Guinosso creates a spiritual yet light-hearted environment for his students to discover the deeper benefits of Yoga. Pete’s ability to compassionately guide students of all levels through a vigorous asana practice makes his classes amongst the most dynamic in the Bay Area.

In addition to teaching classes, workshops and retreats, Pete mentors and leads teacher training programs and workshops. His intention in instructing teachers is to share the value of quality sequencing and hands-on adjustments so that new teachers can bring healing to their own communities. Having studied with Ana Forrest since 2003, and assisted her in her workshops and teacher trainings, Pete is passionate about helping teachers build trust in themselves and become their “wiser self,” the place from which he encourages them to teach. "Teach yoga: Light the path to the wisdom in your heart!"

Stephanie Guinosso discovered yoga following a knee injury playing college basketball in 1998. After pursuing traditional rehabilitation that did not lead to a full recovery, she tried yoga as a last resort. Yoga helped to break up the scar tissue, increase strength and flexibility, and ultimately heal the injury. She has been practicing yoga ever since! Trained as a Forrest Yoga Teacher in 2008 under Ana Forrest, Stephanie inspires students to develop an intuitive body awareness, work intelligently at their physical edges, and use the gifts of yoga to walk through life with a little more ease and a lot less struggle. She currently assists her husband, Pete Guinosso, on numerous local and international retreats. She also teaches yoga through Lemonade, a yoga program for young men in juvenile hall.
