Essentials for Vinyasa Flow Yoga With Mira Valeria
In this month-long vinyasa flow yoga workshop series, to be held over four Saturdays, we will break down the essential poses of the vinyasa flow yoga practice. We will review the lingo and proper alignment for the most commonly taught postures and, most importantly, how to link our movement with our breath. New students will walk away with the skills and confidence needed to jump into a public class. More experienced yogis will develop a more nuanced understanding of alignment and technique in their yoga poses.
Week 1: Basics of Vinyasa: Breath and “The Vinyasa”
Week 2: Warrior II Family Poses
Week 3: High Lunge/Feet Parallel Family Poses
Week 4: Warrior I and Twist Family Poses
Expect to learn:
- Alignment and technique for the foundational Vinyasa Yoga poses, including Down Dog, Warrior I, Warrior II and like poses
- The difference between Cobra and Up Dog
- Breathing techniques
- How to properly/safely move to Chaturanga for a sustainable yoga practice (& happy shoulders)

Mira Valeria is a San Francisco-based yoga instructor and the founder of Santa Fe Thrive, an indoor cycling and yoga studio in Santa Fe, NM.
